For all of you who are new to Tomb Raider or want to know what she is all about, this is where I will tell you.
Lara Croft is one of world's most recognizable characters, seeing as she has starred in over 7 video games and two movies. She has been a very influential character in many aspects, from Video Games to advertising Lucozade, or as it was called when she sponsored it, Larazode. Ever since 1996 people from all over the world have been getting to know Lara and delve deep into a character thought by many as a hero.
Lara Croft was born into wealth, yet soon found that high class socity was not for her. She suffered a great loss at the age of nine after surviving a plane crash deep in the heart of the Himalayas. Her mother supposedly perished here, and Lara was forced to trek through the mountains for 10 days, miraculously surviving.
Ever since the accident Lara stayed close to her father, Lord Richard Croft and rarely left his side. He too perished while at an ancient archaeological dig. Lara, who was 18, was very saddened by the loss of not only her father, but now that she had no parents she felt a part of herself had been ripped out.
Because Lord Croft's body was never found, Lara was thrust into a legal battle between herself and her greedy uncle over the three Croft manors and the family fortune. After a difficult battle, Lara gained possession the family fortune and the manors but at the cost of never hearing from her family members again.
Lara Croft now has been credited with the discovery of many archaeological digs, uncovering many aspects of the world's past, but in reality it is her own past that is shunned from society. It seems that there is a veil over Lara that nobody can get past. She mostly keeps to herself and prefers to work alone with the exception of the three associates at the Croft manor. Zip is her right hand man who offers advice and is very savvy with computers and such. Alister is a historian who offers advice of the scenery and such. Finally there is Winston Smith, the butler of the Croft family. He comes from a long line of butlers that have loyally served the Croft family for generations.
This is a basis of Lara Croft, and now you can really know what she is all about. (some info taken from Piggyback's official strategy guide of Tomb Raider Legend)(Lara's past has been changed several times over the years, but the most radical change took place after production was changed from Core Design to Crystal Dynamics)
