Tomb Raider the Angel of Darkness
Info about Tomb Raider the Angel of Darkness
Tomb Raider the Angel of Darkness Platforms-PC Playstation 2
Story- Accused of the murder of her former mentor, Lara croft becomes a fugitive on the run.   In an attempt to clean her name, Lara must confront a powerful secret alliance intent on taking over the world.   With explosive action and a gripping story, this is Tomb Raider like you've never experienced before.
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness
2003

Overview
One of the most controversial of all Tomb Raider games, the Angel of Darkness marked the end of the road for it's creators, Core Design.   A game rushed by Eidos, plagued with bugs, and introducing a slow, repetitive, and arrogant second playable are only a few of the mishaps of the seeming brilliant game.   While the general public sees it as a failure, most Tomb Raider devotee's are looking past the games obvious flaws and focusing more on the strong points, and a game that could have been.   The Angel of Darkness not only features a stunning updated Lara Croft, but a surreal and powerful soundtrack plus a complex, creative, and thoughtful storyline, which was supposed to continue into Core's next planned game.

Improvements
With the team moving on to the Playstation 2 and advancements made in the PC field, the creators of the Angel of Darkness moved to a more powerful engine which would allow for better graphics, new gameplay mechanics, and other key elements that make a game great.   Lara can now move more fluidly (though the control scheme laid unfinished, thanks to Eidos rushing the game) and she featured a number of new moves including hand-to-hand combat and stealth moves.

Gameplay
While the dual analog sticks didn't work well in the original 5 adventures, the Angel of Darkness puts them to greater use, and uses the arrows for quick inventory access.   The game is slow at times and Lara doesn't control quite like she does in Tomb Raider Legend, but the scheme still works and retains the classical aspects of the previous controls.

Story
Lara is asked to visit her former mentor, Von Croy, as Monstrum attacks increase.   He fears for his life and asks Lara to help him obtain 5 Obscura paintings for his shadowy client, Eckhardt.   Lara acceps only to black out and wake up; Von Croy dead.   The police chase her through Paris as she tries to find out what happened and tries to find Von Croy's last contact, Louis Bouchard.   When she finds him he offers little advice yet tells Lara to ask Daniel Rennes, who can get her access to the Louvre.

The story continues on from there with the findings of the paintings and the occasional run-in with Kurtis Trent.   The story unfolds with Lara confronting Eckhardt, only to learn it was his right hand man, Joachim Karel, who was in control of the whole thing.
